Delicious and nutritious freshly made in the Scottish Borders

all our school meals are produced locally by our team of dedicated cooks who provide:

  • over 6000 primary school meals a day
  • free school meals for all P1-3 pupils, you can view the current menus at www.scotborders.gov.uk/schoolmeals, register your child ParentPay to order their lunch.

our menus are carefully planned to meet national nutritional standard set by the Scottish Government.

Our recipes contain less fat, sugar and salt and are now healthier, better balanced, and more nutritious and meet the requirements of the majority of pupils.

Can we help with special dietary requirements?

We do our best to cater for anyone who has special dietary requirements. our nutritionist can help with advice, information menu planning - just get in touch for a chat or make an appointment to discuss your childs needs in more detail, and we will do all we can to help.

Are free school meals really free?

absolutely. Introduced by the Scottish Government in 2015, the initiative means all that P1-3 pupils can receive a nutritious lunch - or brunch on a Friday morning-that

 

You can claim free school meals for your children if you are receiving:

  • Income support
  • Income based Jobseekers allowance

To claim free schools meals please contact the school office or the Scottish Borders Council.

Claiming free school meals means that:

  • Your child has a free healthy meal at lunchtime.
  • Your child has a better social experience.
  • Your child can learn about food and healthy choices.
  • You save money.
